Welcome to Focus Community!

Get Your Life Into Focus

Where We Are Going

August 24, 2008

Over the past couple weeks, Danielle and I have been able to take some time off and enjoy the last couple weeks of being a couple before Baby DeLong comes. Danielle is now just 5 weeks from giving birth to our first child and it's been a crazy whirlwind as life is changing. Additionally, we sold our home and are moving to an apartment... TOMORROW! Crazy, eh?

WELCOME BACK COLLEGE STUDENTS!! We've missed you this summer and I'm excited to see how your time away went.

God is also doing some awesome work in the community and it is my desire for Focus to be a part of it. Let's ask God to be the center of what we do and for Him to make our lives an offering to Him!

Well, looks like it's time for Super Bowl again!  And everyone's invited to watch the Big Game at the DeLong's home.  We'll have meatball subs, salads, beverages... and anything you may want to bring. Of course, you don't have to bring anything, but do bring yourself and your friends!

And don't forget to plan on staying after church this week as we'll host our monthly lunch immediately following the service.  No charge, just food and fellowship.  See you then!

2008 has had a rocky start for our young fledgling church.  John Brassell resigned and we lost what we thought was our home for our services.  At the same time, we keep moving forward with our study of the Bible and our church continues to do well.

We are currently at the beginning of a study of the book of Matthew.  This journey started at Christmas by looking at Matthew chapters 1 and 2, and will conclude the study with Easter at the end of March.  This week, we will be looking at prayer: how Jesus taught us to pray and how we should pray today.  Better known as "The Sermon on the Mount", we will delve into the words Jesus gave and how they can apply to our lives today.  Surround that with the Lord's Supper, powerful worship music and strong fellowship- we've got ourselves an exciting church service!

See you Sunday at 10:30!!

January 15, 2008 Part 2

After but 24 hours, the Lord has answered our prayers!  We will be meeting in our old location: 7031 Crider Road, Mars, PA 16046.  Services will be held in the lower level conference room at 10:30 as usual.  Thank you! to those who prayed and THANK YOU JESUS!

We are now into the 2007 holiday season, having just celebrating Thanksgiving.  And even as a small church, Focus has a big answer to the question: Where Are We Going?  The answer is reaching out to the community.  On Thanksgiving morning, Focus held a service at the Worthington at Adams Assisted Living residence.  We led several hymns, read Scripture, and spent some time with each of the residents.  Here's a picture of our time together!

We also plan on holding a Christmas service here for the residents and their families this month.

How can you reach out to your community this season?

This morning was a very exciting morning for Focus.  John and I (Ben) visited Rob and Bobby Hawranko at the Heritage Professional Building.  The purpose was for me to introduce John to Rob, and it turned out to be very positive!  The problem: our first meeting room can hold approximately 35 seated persons and we currently have over 45 people planning to attend on September 9th!  So we've been praying for the "Oval Room" in the same building.  We ran this idea by Rob, who is still in the process of deciding exactly what to do with this room.  We are praying that God opens up that room for our use.  Will you pray with us about this?

Last Sunday, we attended Grace Community Church's service at Moraine Park. It was a beautiful day watching about 50 people get baptized in the lake.  One day, we'll have 50 people to baptize!
